Founded in Mass. USA in 1996, The Leather Group, Inc. has grown into an international leather sales, sourcing, and brokerage agency with offices throughout the world and within North America. It's founder, Mr. Matthew Feuer has deep roots within the leather industry, as his family has been in the tanning industry since the early 1900's. Mr. Feuer recognized a basic lack of quality and customer service within the industry and started TLG in order to fill that void.

The Leather Group, Inc.'s goal is to supply quality leather to our customers worldwide. TLG is totally committed to customer service and support. TLG works with its customers during the inception of new programs or concepts to ensure that specified materials are delivered within the time frame needed. By working with TLG, customers gain the benefit of working in the USA, but knowing that the leathers needed are in the country that the shoes will be produced.

To work closely with our customers and partners to ensure a quality source of leathers for their LOCAL manufacturing requirements. Localized sourcing. Provide quality customer support in the USA to ensure that our customer's requirements are being met locally. Localized service and support.

Jan. 1996: Signed first contract with CURTIDOS STAR, SA de CV (Mexico) to act as their exclusive sales office in North America. Side leathers and splits for use in North, Latin, and South America.
April 1997: Signed contract with YOUNG CHANG SILUP (Korea) to act as their exclusive sales office in North America. Side leathers for use within Asia.
December 1998: Signed contract with WEI TAI LEATHER (CHINA / TAIWAN) to act as their exclusive sales office in North America. Suede and splits for use within Asia.
January 2001: Signed contract with YOUNGIL (Korea) to act as their exclusive sales office in North America. PU Splits made in Korea for use within Asia.
April 2001: Opened The Leather Group India to act as sourcing office for key items from India for use globally.
August 2001: Opened The Leather Group Brazil to act as sourcing office for all leathers to be supplied from South America. Use is global.
September 2001: Started working with one of the world's largest tanner of pigskin for various uses, such as lining, upper, and others. Based in Southern China.
April 2002: NANYI - Side leathers made on USA hides. Salamanca, Flamingo, Deerbuc, Santos, and various other key production leathers.
October 2003: ROSS BEAR started representing THE LEATHER GROUP in October of 2003. Ross is based in the PORTLAND, OREGON area, and will handle all WEST COAST sales for THE LEATHER GROUP, and related companies.

June 1996: Hired Lindgren Corp in Penn. to act as sales agency for the mid-atlantic states.
July 1998: Hired SEBCO in St. Louis to act as sales agency for Miss. Arkansas, and other key accounts.
Aug. 2000: Hired RF HOOD in Toronto, Canada to act as sales agency for all of Canada.
March 2001: Hired Mike Williams in Nashville, Tenn. to handle all southeaster states.
June 2001: Hired Moses Sales to handle the Southwest sales efforts.
October 2003: Hired ROSS BEAR to handle West Coast Sales.
May 2004: Started working with STU Goldsmith in order to service our customers's requirements in the NY/TRI-STATE AREAS.

By offering the finest leathers in Asia, North America, Italy, Brazil, and India, TLG is able to provide various qualilty leathers for our customers based in North America for use globally.

Asia: Supply of quality side leathers, splits, pu splits and pig linings.
North America: Supply of quality side leathers, splits, and deerskin.
Europe: Supply of quality calf, kip, vegatable, and other specialty leathers.
India: Supply and inspections of goat, cow, and other lower priced volume items.
Latin America: Supply and inspections of all types of leathers at competitive price points.
